In a front page endorsement in its September 2nd edition, the paper wrote, “Mayor Brown has created a solid foundation for moving Buffalo forward and he has built upon the opportunities that will make the city stronger and safer. The South Buffalo News believes very strongly that Mayor Brown deserves another term as Mayor of Buffalo.” “It’s a great honor to receive the endorsement of the South Buffalo News,” said Mayor Brown. “This is a weekly publication that knows the issues that concern its readers throughout the South Buffalo community and the paper has its fingers on the pulse of its readers. For the paper to express such confidence in me and my tenure as Mayor of Buffalo is confirmation that the progress we have made since 2006 is hitting home. By lowering crime, removing illegal guns off our streets, cutting taxes and investing in commercial and residential neighborhoods, we have created a solid foundation to move Buffalo forward to greater strength and prosperity.” The paper’s endorsement also stated, “Four years ago, Mayor Brown ran for election on a platform to stabilize Buffalo’s finances, reduce crime, ensure greater accountability and efficiency in delivering city services and he has delivered in each of those areas.” In addition to the support of the South Buffalo News, Mayor Brown has received the endorsement of Congressman Brian Higgins; the United Steelworkers District 4; the New York State Public Employees Federation; District Council 35; AFSCME Local 264; the Buffalo Teachers Federation; SEIU Local 200 United; Building Trade Inspectors Association Local 2651; AFSCME Local 650; Boilermakers Local # 7; the International Union of Elevator Constructors, Local 14; the Buffalo Building & Construction Trades Council; the Western New York Chapter of the Working Families Party; the Erie County Independence Party; the Erie County Conservative Party; the Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association; Goin’ South; NARAL Pro-Choice New York; and the Buffalo Educational Support Team. ###
