WNY HISPANIC & FRIENDS CIVIC ASSOCIATION ENDORSES MAYOR BROWN

Decades Old Hispanic Group Adds to Mayor Brown’s Strong Base of Support

BUFFALO – The Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association today endorsed Mayor Byron W. Brown for a second term as Mayor of Buffalo.

“I’m honored to receive the endorsement of the Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association, which is one of the oldest and most active Hispanic civic organizations in Buffalo,” said Mayor Brown. “My Administration has a strong record of achievement in supporting and promoting Hispanic issues. From appointing the city’s first Hispanic woman judge to the City Court, Betty Calvo-Torres, designating David Rodriquez as Acting Corporation Counsel of the city and funding important community-based facilities like the Father Belle Center, Westside Community Services and Los Tainos Senior Citizens Center.”

Formed in the 1970’s, the Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association is composed of business owners, faith-based community leaders, civic activists and city residents. Among their notable annual events are the popular Puerto Rican Day Parade and the Three Kings Celebration (Feast of the Epiphany), which marked its 25th anniversary this past January.

“Mayor Byron Brown is a great friend of Buffalo’s Hispanic community and the Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association is enthusiastically supporting him for re-election,” said Andres Garcia, president of the civic organization. “Since taking office in 2006, Mayor Brown has worked diligently, to stabilize the city’s finances, reduce crime, support our neighborhoods, remove blight and strengthen our overall quality of life. He deserve a second term as Mayor of Buffalo and the Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association urges all city residents to support Mayor Brown.”

The Western New York Hispanic & Friends Association endorsement is another major endorsement for Mayor Brown after recently receiving the Conservative, Independence, Working Families Party and Buffalo Educational Support Team endorsements.
